Job Description
- Location: Elyria, OH
- Pay: $77,000 – $105,000 per year
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Benefits: Life insurance (10% employer contribution), 15 days PTO, 15 sick days, 10 holidays

Role Summary
This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the Project Engineer. You'll oversee wastewater treatment plant operations, manage public works construction projects, and ensure regulatory compliance with NPDES and other permits. You'll supervise a technical team, pursue grant funding, and serve as the technical liaison to the public and contractors.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, assign, monitor and coordinate work of employees
- Collect, develop and generate information for planning and presentations related to wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer collection systems
- Pursue available funding for various wastewater projects
- Develop budgets for operations, services, and cost estimates for project improvements
- Plan and supervise design of public works projects
- Direct project related surveys, plan preparation and work required for the operation of wastewater treatment plant and collection systems
- Maintain operational compliance with regulatory permits including NPDES
- Review construction documents including plans and specifications for compliance with applicable design and regulatory requirements
- Prepare construction and systems plans and contract specifications for various public works projects
- Oversee project bidding and project progress
- Review consultant and contractor work for accuracy
- Administer public works contracts
- Interact with the public and provide responses to technical questions
- Disseminate information to the public
Essential Requirements
- Four years of civil engineering experience
- Three years supervisory experience
- Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) License, or ability to obtain within six months
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- AutoCAD proficiency
- ESRI (GIS) software experience
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- NPDES permit compliance experience
- Wastewater treatment plant operations knowledge
- Public works construction knowledge
- Survey and design knowledge
- Grant application preparation experience
Desirable Requirements
- Ohio Class I Wastewater Operator Certification
- Ohio Class II Wastewater Operator Certification
- Experience in public works or wastewater treatment industries
Compensation
$77,000 to $105,000 per year, depending on experience.
